Instructions
  1. Ball up 4-5 sheets of aluminum foil and place them in the bottom of a slow cooker to create a base for the chicken.
  2. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels, trying to dry the chicken as much as possible inside and out.
  3. Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken on the center of the foil balls.
  5. Cook for 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours on high or until the thickest part of the thigh temps at 165 degrees. Remove liver, heart and neck from the cavity of the chicken when done cooking.

Note: By leaving the liver, heart and neck in the chicken when cooking, all the extra nutrients of those items get into the chicken. However, you can take them out before cooking if you wish.
Recipe Notes

Using a whole chicken is an economical way to prepare a meal (or a few meals!). It takes about 10 minutes to prepare, and after it’s cooked you can enjoy it on its own or in several meals throughout the week. Check out the produce index for additional information!
