How long is the program?

The Fresh Rx: Nourishing Healthy Starts program enrolls mothers around the 20th week of pregnancy and works with them through 60 days after giving birth – about 30 weeks all together. This can vary based on when someone enrolls in the program but always goes through 60 days postpartum.

What if I have food allergies or restrictions?

The Fresh Rx team is happy to work with folks no matter what food allergies or restrictions they have. During intake with our Registered Dietitian, program participants are asked about any food allergies or restrictions. We then work with Fair Shares CCSA to make sure that any necessary changes are made to each basket based on the participant’s needs. We understand that food allergies and restrictions can make eating healthy even more difficult and will work with program participants to make sure their food basket reflects their dietary needs.

What kind of food can I expect to receive?

Each fresh food share includes a variety of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meat, and shelf-stable products like jam, pasta, or sauce. In the past, the baskets have included items like ground turkey, cheese, wheat bread, apple sauce, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, watermelon, grits, garlic, and jalapenos, just to name a few. The contents of the food baskets changes based on the time of year, which makes sure the food in each basket is fresh and locally sourced.

When can I expect to receive it?

Food baskets are given out every other week, either on a Thursday afternoon or all-day Friday during work hours.
